Urban Debate League
In what area?
More info please…
he was at my summer camp in august 2006.we went to urban league of metro seattle. he is black. he probably in high school. and if anyone knows him it would help so much
Try to google it,.
Sorry, I dont even know what the Urban League is, but the UNCF is obviously a racist organization. No brainer there.
In a letter wrote today by the president of the catholic league, he asked president Obama why he would have hired a homosexual urban terrorist such as kevin jennings to be the’safe schools czar’
he brings up his membership in radical groups that broke into a church and desecrated it, als do his past drug use, the issue with the 15 year old boy, he is also sympathetic to the man-boy love group, anyways has anyone read this open letter today?Do you think it will help to get the catholic church involved?
by the way the catholic president also says this guy Jennings) is anti-god
you can google the letter…
Far too many Organizations these days, seem to have vanished in the "wind". The Catholic League has been silent too long, as has NOW who once did make politicians tremble in their boots.
There are a half a dozen organizations that should be all OVER Obama on this one, since it DOES impact our children directly, and not like the communist, racist Van Jones.
And Jennings HAS been associated with the man-boy love group, and IS an avowed homosexual activist who believes instructions about it should be started in 1st Grade. NOTICE this scum, has NOT denied the allegations nor come forward to refute them. He CAN’T……IT’S TRUTH.
And Obama won’t respond to the Leagues letter, anymore than he apologized to the public for the slime Van Jones.

As an alumni of the school, I would say that your credentials look pretty good, I don’t think colleges necessarily dwell on ACT/SAT scores after you have already been admitted into a college, those tests are really just a benchmark in predicting how you would do, however your grades right now, seem to prove that you are going to do well. Also I know that they take a look at the whole picture when making decisions on who gets admitted.
It seems that you are a pre-med major, if this is the case I would advise that you do more research on different colleges in terms of what is going to offer you the best value and advantage upon completing your undergrad, if you already have a post graduate school of choice in mind, I would also try to find out what caliber of students they look for when making their admission decisions also. I wish you the best
Well Right now Im a Sophomore, and I have a 2.75 and on my first time taking the PSAT i got: CR:66, M:48, W:52(Kind of low but I think good for a first try with no study)
Which is due to mostly biology.
I am doing better.
Im a Minority, Was born Poor and I have an interest in Crew. I play tennis, golf, I run track and Cross Country.
Im a member of Big Brother, Big Sister
the NAACP
I Attended the JSA Summer School at Yale
Im a member of the Urban League
Im in the Detroit Economic Club
I was president of the Chemistry Club
I was a Student Council Independent Representative
I was a teacher’s Aide
Im on the Detroit Newspaper Advisory Board
Was in the Link Crew as an A-team Member
Was nominated to Participate in HOBY Program
and I volunteered for the Romney, and Clinton Campaigns.
I would like to try Sailing, Track, or Tennis at Williams.
Can I get in?
Or what about any other schools in that league
Im expecting to have atleast a 3.5 before the end of the year or at the middle of next as a junior
You have a very good resume, but as it stands right now I think your chances are fairly low. You really need to focus on raising both your GPA and test scores. An upward trend in your grades would help, but it’s never a sure thing.
All of the top colleges have received record numbers of applications and are very competitive for admission. Williams has an acceptance rate of less than 18% (maybe even lower this year) and rejects many qualified students. It’s kind of a gamble and no one can really predict whether you’ll get accepted or not.
I certainly don’t want to discourage you from aiming high though. Just make sure that when you apply, that you also apply to other colleges that are more of a "sure thing", like your in-state public universities and maybe a few less selective private colleges.
I have a couple of suggestions that may be helpful.
First, try the ACT test and see how you do on that. All colleges will now accept either the ACT or SAT and have no preference for either test. Some students find the ACT to be more straightforward than the SAT. The biggest advantage of the ACT is that if you take it multiple times, you can choose to send only your highest score to the colleges. If you take the SAT multiple times and don’t score very well on one sitting, they still send ALL of your scores when you send your score report to the college. Even if you only want to send your SAT subject test scores, they’ll still see all of your SAT I scores. (By the way, Williams will still require 2 SAT subject tests no matter if you take the SAT I or the ACT).
Second, if your family income less than around $60,000/year, you should look into a scholarship program called Questbridge. It is a free, non-profit organization who’s mission is to help motivated, high-achieving, low-income students gain access to some of the top colleges in the country, including Williams. You can apply for the College Prep Scholarship in your junior year, and the College Match Scholarship early in your senior year.
http://questbridge.org/
If you’re really low-income, then you should apply for the Gates Millenium Scholarship, which will cover all of your costs to any college you attend.

When you are a junior, you can apply to attend a program called "Windows on Williams", which is their diversity open house. You can contact their director of diversity recruitment for more information. If you’re accepted to WoW, they’ll pay for your travel costs to visit the college early in your senior year. (Amherst, Oberlin and Swarthmore also offer diversity open house weekends.)
Mostly just try to get those grades up, and keep working hard. I am certain that you’ll do well wherever you end up.
I will be a senior this coming fall and I’m all ready freaking out about college. I dropped the ball in Junior year due to various issues.
From 9-11 my grades took a roller coaster ride; It feels like I have failed and won’t get into any college. My final GPA from 9th was about a 3.35,10th 3.22 and 11th 2.94.
I am a good student but right now I am not optimistic. I took two different PSAT tests and scored about 12** but I know I can raise that. I don’t even know what I want to major in, (and that’s because I need to narrow it down) I’m so stressed…I am apart of a robotics team, math/science team, I currently work through an Urban League program at R.I.T/M.C.C which is training in engineering, IT, green energy, etc. I have also participated in a scholars program at U of R. in 7th if that even counts.
I took AP World/U.S History, busted my a** for both of those tests and got a 2 which brings my hope of going anywhere realllyy down.
Do I even have a chance to get into a respectable school? Especially in NY.
most state ran schools only look for a 2.0 average. you will be fine unless you are trying to get into Harvard. even if you go Take a gym class at a community college to build your GPA up a bit would work
I have viewed numerous websites on this subject and it’s just too much info for me to decipher.
I completed Advanced Avionics school in the Navy. Very math intensive. I used to teach computer terminology, Word Perfect, Dbase III back in the dark ages of computers. I also taught Novell Netware (remember that?) at a community college in Minneapolis a few years back. I was a volunteer math teacher for the Urban League in St. Lous. etc. etc. etc. Not bragging - but I need a straight answer.
I am just wasting my time (selling satellite tv) when I think I can help. How can I parlay these skills (teaching inner city kids and spoiled suburban kids) that are just going to waste (the skills - not the kids!!!) . In plainspoken terms, what’s required? What can I do?
Check with the state of Texas to find out what the requirements are for a teacher assistant, in my state, GA you have to take a two day training the first day is Information about becoming a sub or paraprofessional and the second day is school observation at the school they choose for you. hope this helps
Ive been going out with the same boy since I was 14. My mom never allwed me to see him so I had to do it secretly..see him in school, talk on the phone when she wasnt home etc… Last October when I was 16 problems with my mother escalated even more. Money, her not being understanding eveything!!!…I ran away to my boyfriends(17) house with his mom. I begged her not to tell my mom where i was. my mother had came looking for me and she said she didnt know where I was, because of how scared I was about what my mom would do to me if she found me.the next day she took me to a a place called urban league where they contacted my mom and I was placed in a transitional home while me and my mom worked things out over 30 days. We came to the agreement that she was goingt o change and she was going to accept him and treat me like a daughter not like any other person. When i returned home everything was a lie. She got worse said I was to do what she said and if i keep messing with her she was goi
contact the urban league and try to get some help from them you can’t do it by yourself talk to a professional
Why did the UNIA and Marcus Garvey appeal to so many African Americans. Compare the charisma of the UNIA and slower development of the NAACP and the urban league
African-Americans who flocked to MG and the UNIA were sort of tired of the broken promises, lack of security(lynchings), and "Mr. Jim Crow". They wanted pride and self-determination in their communities and Garvey was one of the few who stood up to the challenge.
