Juicer Machines - Which One To Choose?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Juicer machines are an investment in your health. The quality of juice produced and the fresh combinations you can make are delightfully zingy.

It can be hard to decide which one is best for you as there are a few different types.

Firstly, there is the centrifugal variety. These are fast juicer machines as they require minimal preparation due to the large feeder chute and spinning chamber which mashes the fruit and extracts the juice by centrifugal spinning force.

Secondly the masticating variety of juicer machines… these are slower and more cutting and preparation needed as the feeder chute is smaller. The juice is produced by a large screw crushing and ‘chewing’ the fruit and vegetables to a pulp from which the juice gently flows.

There are also citrus juicers which are suitable for oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits and tangerines etc. They are a press or ’squasher’ machine which can be automatic or hand operated.

There are pros and cons to using all three and it is best to weigh up which one will suit your size and type of family, the time available to you and your preferences for the type of juices. Finally budget is another consideration.

What is flax seed?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Flax seed has been around and used by humans for general nutrition and for specific health reasons for thousands of years – even Hippocrates used it. Its real name is Linum Usitatissimum L. It’s leaves can be a variety of colors and shades from pale or dark blue to a whitish pink. The flax seed plant never gets particularly tall; only some 35 inches in height. The flowers produce round seed capsules. It is the later that develope the famous flax seeds themselves. When we buy flax seed, they are oval, flat and anything from a pale light golden brown color to a reddish drown. There doesn’t seem to be any difference in their nutritional value.

A friend of mine tag me on facebook with an old photo that she took 3 years ago, I was shock seeing a thin version of myself. I cant imagine that within 3 years I gain almost 20-40 lbs. We were laughing at the comments on that pic and it looks like all of the people on that photo gained weight.

I guess 3 years of working on night shift can help you with gaining some weight. Also not doing some exercise every day wont help either. But how can i do it, its really tiring coming home from work every morning, and the only thing that I want to do is sleep.
